Home in London

We have been in London for the past 10 days and have been staying bang smack in the middle of the financial district, close to London Bridge, in a lovely furnished apartment (courtesy of our employers - nice). We have spent the week wandering London by foot (Notting Hill, Bayswater, Angel, Oxford and Picadilly Circuses, Regent and Oxford Streets, Convent Garden - the whole bit) catching up with friends - all of whom have been fantastic and welcomed us by taking us out for various dinners, lunches and drinks - and looking for somewhere permanent to live. On Saturday we visited the London Borough Markets with a couple of friends - a very busy market at London Bridge with all sorts of amazing foods - cheeses, olives, fresh meat and veges, chocolate and all sorts! - and then spent the afternoon catching up over a couple of bottles of Kim Crawford (makes us miss NZ!) in a winebar. It has been lovely to see all of our London based friends although there are still some that we haven't yet seen. On the home front, we have been lucky enough to find a fantastic flat in Angel (north London) in a converted toffee factory with two bedrooms (plenty of room for people to come and stay!), high ceilings and massive bay windows and we move in in a couple of weeks. We love it! We are on the countdown to go back to work (4 September) and we are actually looking forward to getting back into a routine and using some brain power. But before we settle back in to normal life we are looking foward to one more adventure (provided we can make it out of the London airports!) with 10 days in Vancouver. Yay!
