Sandboarding

Our first day of activities was sandboarding the local dunes of Swakopmund. We set off first thing in the morning to dune #5 which is about 100m high. The sandboards were snowboards with formica and wax on the base. With no chairlifts we had to hike for 20 minutes in snowboard boots up the dune for the 1 minute ride down the slope. It wasn't too disimilar to snowboarding and was relatively easy to pick up. We also had the opportunity to try lie down sandboarding (a bit like the old rubbish bags on snow). Aside from finding sand in the most random places 3 days later it was a fantastic day with awesome views of the dunes.
