Skydiving and Quadbiking in the Namibian sand dunes

We headed out at 11am on Wednesday morning to do our first ever skydive. We were to jump from 10,000 feet with a free fall for 30 odd seconds and then a cruise down to land. The weather, unfortunately, was slightly cloudy and foggy on the coast so we signed the standard 'we won't sue you if we die' forms and settled in with a beer (to calm the nerves) and played a little bit of pool. Eventually, when the weather cleared just after 1pm, Grant and I were in the first plane (with our friends to follow) - the most tiny plane we have ever seen - and it took us 25 minutes to get to 10,000 feet over the most amazing scenery you have ever seen. The sand dunes and the desert goes for miles and is set against the coast and it was awesome to see as we hurtled towards them at 117 miles per hour. Our 30 second free fall felt like it was over in 5 seconds and, aside from having to hang out the edge of the plane before falling, was not at all scary. We loved it! On the way down our tandem instructors let us go into steer our parachutes and have a little fun with the speed as we cruised down to land in the middle of the desert. It was an absolutely fantastic experience and we would do it again in a second.
