Hanging out in Swakopmund

We have four days in Swakop to hang about, relax (there's that word again), and engage in all sorts of fun activities before heading out of here on Friday bound for Cape Town. Swakopmund could be one of many little towns in New Zealand or Australia - set on the Namibian coast and surrounded by desert and large sand dunes - it has a number of bars and restaurants, some surf shops (whose Christmases have ALL come at once with every one of the 14 of us spending up large on new and therefore CLEAN clothes...), a movie theatre and KFC. We are staying at the Swakop Lodge in dorms, which we think are fantastic, and not just because it is a bed, the lodge is really beautiful and clean with two bars upstairs equipped with 6 or 8 pool tables, a great cafe with a brilliant internet connection (hence the large amount of blog updates) and is right in the middle of town. We are booked in to go sandboarding, do a tandem skydive over the dunes and also to go quadbiking on the dunes. We are loving being right back in the middle of civilisation as sad that it is to leave behind our experiences of less westernised Africa.
