Just the two of us - in HK and Bangkok

After a shitty 13 hour flight, we arrived in Hong Kong for a couple of nights. Our hotel (found on the internet) was still under construction but in an awesome location in the back streets of Central HK. Built on the side of the mountain, we were surrounded in tiny steep cobblestoned streets with stalls selling fruit, veges and fresh meat and fish (which were literally still jumping in the ice) and a ton of junk. We were about 5 minutes walk from Soho which has a large number of western bars and restaurants and is nice but pricy. Had authentic chinese for dinner and passed over the starbucks and 7-eleven options (as we promised!). Had a great day exploring the city - everyone seemed very nice and friendly and the city felt really safe. We took the ferry over to Kowloon for the afternoon and did a spot of shopping. By far, the highlight of our day was seeing a chinese lady photographing her daughter pretending to pat a sheep through a glass window - priceless. We had anchor butter from New Zealand on our toast this morning - it made Anna cry. We are now in Bangkok and looking forward to finding our friend, Kristal, who is somewhere in the hotel but yet to be located. Tonight is the Thai New Year which is celebrated with a massive water festival. Our first encounter was a number of pick-up trucks with water guns on the main highway into Bangkok. The city is filled with soaking wet kids with buckets of water and waterguns. We'll have to locate a super soaker 500 with additional backpack v.v. shortly. Should be an interesting night. Will post photos soon.
