In Banff

We flew into Calgary on Tuesday and got out of there as quick as possible. We hired a Ford Expedition (next up from explorer) and spent an hour and a half travelling west to get to the heart of the Rockies and our final destination, Banff. We had booked into a 5 star lodge 10 mins out of town but ended up moving to a chalet across the road that housed everyone under one roof. Yesterday (Wed) we had a day around town exploring, hiring gear and shopping. Today we went up Sunshine Mountain, about 20 mins from town, and only accessible by a 8 person gondola from the carpark. Once you get to the main village (after a 15 min gondola ride over ravines) there are 3 mountains to expore and 1600 hectares of skiable terrain. The weather was great with a blue skies and amazing views over the Rockies (see photos!).
