Houseboats in Zambia

After our adventures in Zim, we crossed the border back into Zambia (land of diesel) again (changing the leftovers of our 14 million Zim dollars (US$40)) to spend three days on a houseboat. We saw Victoria Falls for the first time which was absolutely stunning. A large bridge runs between Zim and Zam and the mist from the falls stretches all of the way up the gorge to sit just outside the windows of your vehicle, and, if you have the windows down, saturates you. The Falls are absolutely spectacular and we're excited to get back later in the week to do all of the activities we have planned. We spent the night in Livingstone and then headed up to Lake Kariba and the houseboat. The houseboat was massive with private rooms for everyone, a bar (of course), a fishing barge attached to the back of the boat, a jacuzzi on the main deck and it even came equipped with a team of chefs. We were in for some amazing meals and three days of relaxing. We played a couple of 4 hour-long games of monopoly, a whole lot of 500 and poker, drank a lot and ate even more (roast pork, vodka jelly, bacon, eggs and hashbrowns!). We jumped from the top deck of the houseboat and swam in the depths of croc-infested Lake Kariba (too deep for crocs to attack), we visited the largest croc farm in the world (housing 72,000 crocs) and we watched 5 large bull elephants eating on the shores right beside where the houseboat was moored. After three days in the sun and overindulging in everything we are now back in Livingstone for 4 days (our longest time in one place) and have a sunset cruise on the Zambezi river tonight (mon), microlight flights over vic falls tomorrow (tues) and a adrenalin day on wednesday (gorge swing, abseiling, flying fox etc). This is also the last stop for half the passengers on the truck so we are back to 15 people on the safari come Thursday and two seats each. Next stop Botswana.
